台北にある、日本製の革靴を試着・購入できるショールーム。靴が持つ「モノとしての美しさ」と「履きやすさ」という２つの価値に応じて２タイプの展示を作った。
１つは壁にうがった棚。靴をフレーミングすることにより靴の「モノとしての美しさ」にフォーカスした。 もう１つは「床」そのもの。カスタマーは靴を試着し床を歩くことで、その「履きやすさ」を体感することができる。床は白い玉砂利を使った洗出しで仕上げ、カスタマーは凹凸のある床に足元の感覚を集中することができる。
起伏のある「床」に靴を直接置くことで、靴が自然な状態で見えるように心掛けた。持ち上げられた「床」には白い玉砂利を敷き詰めた。 全体として、東屋と庭のようなインテリアスケープになった。全体が白く統一されている中で、玉砂利が繊細な陰影を与えている。
A showroom in Taipei where Japanese-made leather shoes can be tried on and purchased.
The design proposes two types of displays corresponding to the shoes’ dual values: beauty as an object and comfort in use.
One display consists of recessed wall shelves that frame each shoe, focusing on its object-like beauty.
The other is the floor itself. Customers experience the comfort of the shoes by trying them on and walking across the space. The floor is finished with exposed white gravel concrete, directing attention to the tactile sensation underfoot.
By placing the shoes directly on the undulating floor, they are presented in a natural, unforced manner. The raised floor is filled with white gravel.
As a whole, the interior is conceived as a landscape reminiscent of a pavilion and garden. Within the unified white palette, the gravel adds subtle shadow and depth.
